A Note from Angie
North Shore Mental Health Services was founded as a soft place to land, for both clients and therapists. After spending years in larger systems that sometimes felt more corporate than compassionate, I realized it was time to build something different: a practice rooted in connection, authenticity, and the radical idea that both clients and therapists deserve to feel like humans.

We believe that therapy doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s deeply personal and inherently political. We cannot separate someone’s mental health from the systems they live within: racism, ableism, sexism, transphobia, capitalism, and more. To truly show up for our clients, we have to understand the context of their lives, not just their symptoms.

That same care extends to our team. We believe therapists deserve balance, support, and autonomy. When we care for each other; when we laugh, set boundaries, and rest we show up more fully for our clients. Therapy can be serious and healing, but it can also be deeply human. Here, we take mental health seriously but not always ourselves. We believe therapy should be grounded, kind, and sometimes even a little funny (because laughter is therapeutic, after all). We also believe therapists shouldn’t have to choose between helping others and having a life of their own. That’s why we prioritize work-life balance through complete schedule autonomy, competitive pay, and zero tolerance for toxic productivity.

If you’re a therapist looking for a team that values clinical integrity, healthy boundaries, and occasional dog memes in the group chat, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out to me at angie@northshoremhs.com.
