Your First Appointment

We get that showing up to your first therapy appointment can be nerve-wracking. Many clients prefer to have a quick phone chat or to send a few emails to make sure North Shore Mental Health Services is the right fit for them. We’re more than happy to answer any questions you have before your first appointment.

We recommend completing your paperwork online at least one day in advance of your first appointment. The paperwork is for both insurance and psychological assessment purposes. Please bring your insurance card to your first appointment and if you’re under 18 years of age we’ll need a parent present to give their consent as well.

During your first appointment we’ll cover reasons you’re seeking services and any important information you think your therapist should be aware of. The more your therapist gets to know you the better help they can be. This is also a time when you can ask any questions that you may have about our practice and your therapist’s therapeutic approach.

We can’t stress enough how important it is to feel a connection with your therapist, and sometimes it can take a few sessions to feel settled. If you know there are things about therapy that work or don’t work for you please don’t hesitate to let us know.

If you have any questions or concerns going into your first appointment please feel free to call, text, or email us. We look forward to meeting you!
